Where? The U.S. Media is owned by huge Corporations run by ultra right wing Republicans Fox (Murdoch), General Electric (Immelt), Viacom (Redstone), Time-Warner (Parsons), Disney (Iger), Clear Channel (Mays), and Sinclair (Smith.)
Watch someone with a Left view appear with Hannity or O'Reilly. They will get interrupted, shouted over or told "Shut Up!" or "Turn Off His Mike!" That's "debate" in the U.S. media now.
Donahue had actual debate in 2002 and 2003 before the U.S. war of aggression on Iraq. MSNBC made sure there was a 2-1 or 3-2 ratio of conservatives to liberals/ pro-war to anti-war. Still MSNBC cancelled their top rated show so they could compete with Fox News in cheerleading for the war. Now that the war is a quagmire Keith Obermann is one of the few liberals given a platform.

They can't? After the Democrat and Republican presidential candidates are nominated, there will be a debate. Not sure I understand the question.

Because the Republicans don't seem to want to debate. Believe me, I try, and it usually comes down to unsupportable assumptions and ad hominem insults, at least with the ones here in yahooland. My Republican friends and I have interesting and at times spirited debates about all kinds of things, and stay friends.
I can count the number on one hand who have engaged in any kind of prolonged, polite dialog in two years or so of Yahoo answers.

Because Republicans don't want to hear what Democrats say and Democrats don't want to hear what Republicans say. They are at opposing ends for different reasons that neither finds acceptable, legitimate, or fathomable.

In either case it is like talking to a wall. A liberal and a conservative and generally incapable of intellectual discourse as they almost always resort to the lowest form of interaction, insult.

Because trying to debate someone who sticks their fingers in their ears and yells "na na na na, I can't hear you" is about as futile as a situation gets.

Actually I destroy Republicans on a regular basis. It's not very hard to do; they just name call and make innuendos without offering substantive information (like your question for example) and I rebut them with information and knowledge.
Then they usually start talking about Bill Clinton getting a BJ and then say they don't want to talk about it anymore.

Because Rebuplicans usually resort to name calling and twisting the truth. Ever watch an interview with Ann Coulter?

Because republicans can only lie, and they're usually too dumb to make a real argument.
