I agree with Marilyn T.
"Sid and Nancy" is an amazing movie, albeit somewhat depressing. I swear, if you were ever entertaining the idea of using heroin at any time, that idea will leave you quickly enough after you have seen this film.
If I had kids, I would force them to watch Sid and Nancy if they mentioned the idea of experimenting with drugs to me.:)
Too bad that movie wasn't around when I was a hen (female teenager; I call male teenagers 'roosters'). Maybe I wouldn't have tried to fry my brain the way I did but that is another story....:)
Sid Vicious was the bass player for the Sex Pistols (John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten was the singer). It is said that Sid's guitar playing was so bad that he turned his back to the audience onstage and often another player who was not seen subbed for him.
The Sex Pistols were four street punks that 'manager' Malcolm McLaren literally pulled off the street in London, liking the way they looked and the way they acted. The original Pistols' bassist was Glen Matlock. I don't think that any of the four had any musical background at the time.
You can read about what befell poor old Sid on the Crime Library site. It's a lot of (depressing) reading, but it is interesting.
The soundtrack music on Sid and Nancy is awesome, too, with music by The Clash and The Pogues, among others.
Rent it and let us know how you like it.

no do not see KIDS. its an over rated piece of trash after school special. the message it sends.. DO NOT HAVE UNPROTECTED SEX OR YOU WILL GET AIDS. there is no true movie about the real punk scene. but a good movie about druggies is called the basketball diaries. the only thing i want to warn you about is.. leonardo dicaprio has a gay scene in it where an old man is going down on him. i cant stand gay stuff and i got mad when this happened

SLC Punk. Avoid seeing Kids, it's awful! There are only 2 decent scenes, the rest is just distubring!

Well, I love the movie about Sid Visious and his girlfriend Nancy something...It is about the singer of the Sex Pistols.
Called," Sid and Nancy" starring Gary Oldman.I have seen it several times and still love it.

KIDS- its a classic movie from the 90's but its great. Thirteen is also good.
