Very interesting question. I wonder that myself. I enjoy asking questions, especially on this site, because most of us understand and enjoy having something to respond to. There are some who are more interested in points. If we didn't ask questions, there would be no way for anyone to even get points, so we are helping them gain points. Either way, no big deal.

However, I have noted that there are some point leaders who do ask good questions and I admire them a lot.

I don't know the answer to give you. May be they know more. This has been mentioned in the past, but there are some who have mutiple accounts and maybe they use another name to ask questions. I truthfully do not know.

Have a great day.

I am by far a points leader but before asking a question i search on here to see if its been asked already and usually find an answer that way.

I came on this site in order to be a resource for those who needed to find one. I think I'm doing this right for my purpose.

I also look at questions while I'm on here and enjoy the answers others give.

When I have a question that will add value to this site, I will certainly ask it. Knowing the things that I question in this life, I would probably have the only question in the history of this site, to sit there for the run length, and never have an answer.

Point leaders are all knowing, especially knowing that asking questions cost points and since they have been doing this longer have the knowledge or the skills to find the answers....

that would be why they are point leaders. They research the questions for a challenge and have a lot of time on their hands to do so. I know a couple deployed soldiers that do nothing but research yahoo questions as a pass time to keep occupied while they aren't on duty. I think they are gunnin for a top spot ;)

Why are you so concerned about all these points today? They are meaningless. I ask questions when I actually have a question.... I don't sit around and make up questions, I wait until I actually want to know something, how others feel about this or that. In the meantime, I answer other's questions. As far as points go, you can have ALL of mine, I couldn't care less! High points, to me, signify a tremendous waste of valuable time, no more, no less. High points certainly do not make a person smarter than when they started this journey, nor do they make the person more wise. Again, who cares about points? I certainly don't. I hadn't looked at the leaderboard in ages until today when I saw the leader out there with 358,000 points, all gained in less than 1 1/2 years. I spend about 2-5 minutes to answer a question..let's give tha a low of 2 minutes. That means that the leader has spent 24 hours per day, for 1.362 years just here at Yahoo! I seriously doubt that, don't you! I suspect that somehow, somewhere, someone is playing games with points at Yahoo..an employee, no doubt...and I could care less! I, personally, would want NO ONE to know I had spent 24 hours per day for 497 days here, doing nothing but answering questions...that is a disgraceful way to spend almost 1 1/2 years of one's life! FOR NOTHING!!!!!!! Peace, Goldwing

I once saw a question by Goldwing. It started out in such an interesting way. He said, "Aren't I the chatty one today?"

I thought to myself, "Now there's a likeable fellow." But I haven't seen too many lately. Come to think of it, I think he had one just this past week.

Jennyann 4, now, is a very curious person. She always wants to know about YOU, not what you can research.

Not sure, I just can say, the points are not spendable, there is no financial gain, just a pass time for many and a way to connect to the outside world and meet new people and new ideas.
Some questions ask for advise, others just memories to share, jokes, a little about ourselves what we put out there
to share with others,
Some people are shut ins and need to connect with others, so this is a harmless and enjoyable way to do it.

I asked one question in the Travel section. I received one response and that was the information I sought. So, that person got the ten points. Most of my sources of information are gathered on shelves above my computer. It's called a library and I've accumulated a lot of source material over the years, before pointing and clicking on my computer.
Hope this answers the question.
