The phrase always reminds me of the opportunistic in society.

You leave a purse behind. What luck, I now plucked the day and your credit cards and some extra cash. I could also return it and not seize the opportunity.

You forget to lock your door. I have now plucked the day and can take what I want from your home. I could also just pass by or even call or you or lock the door for you and not seize the opportunity.

You have less stock information that I do. I can pluck the day and make a killing of our lack of information. I could also let you know that you are about to hurt yourself financially and help you.

Carpe diem is a mindset that has positive and negative outcomes for all of us.

I Carpe Diem everyday, given the opportunity. My husband and I have a lot of rescued animals ( the result of carpe diem days themselves ) as long as my responsibilities are met, I'll drop nearly anything to go off and have some fun, usually riding one of the horses. I rarely make plans and I live "in the moment", tomorrow doesn't really exist for me, what I have is "right now". My lost loved ones taught me that lesson.
