Why is it that you men think that whenever women are in a bad mood or snap at someone you automatically say "That time of the month"?

Because I got some news for you. Not all women are like that. I'm not like that and many other women aren't like that. Just because we bleed doesn't automatically mean we're in a sour mood.

When it's that time of the month for me, even if it hurts like heck, I never become violent nor moody.

So I want to know why you men think that "Oh my she's mad or snappin at everyone it must be pms or That time of the month"?

Ok, so I'm not a man but I think I've got an answer for you.

In our society it is accepted that women are not allowed to show anger. Women are to be pleasant and conciliatory. When a woman shows anger [and yes women do get angry] then men think that she is going against the societal programing and thus she must have no control over her reaction. Thus it MUST be PMS because no woman would ever be mad for any other reason! [Despite the fact that women have just as many reasons to show anger as men.]

Men go through the same cycles [weight gain, irritability, body sensitivity, etc] as women but because they don't have some convenient way to know when they cycle [i.e. period] they just assume that it is a thing that only effects women.

It's man's constant quest to provide a solution for every problem yet not change our behavior one iota. That way I don't think its anything I said. I can remain pure as the driven snow (probably collected snow from an industrial city, if you get my drift).
I hate to say it, but I also think many men use it as a put-down, to keep women in their place. I, myself, could never figure out where that place was, but I am sure other people have their ideas. We are working on age-old atavistic prejudices built up from eons of patriarchal societies.
It may interest you to know that when I was doing research on the effects of the menstrual cycle on brain waves, another lab doing the same research and using males as controls as I did discovered that men have hormonal cycles also. Men are on a 30 day cycle on average and women on a 28 day cycle. When men have that time of the month, they tend to ithdraw and have less human contact because they sense that they are more irritable and out of sorts. It is more difficult for men to understand these feelings because they do not have a physical sign (i.e., menstruation) that women have. The research was done by the lab of Klaiber and Broverman at Worcester PolyTechnical Institute in Worcester, Ma., or was it UMASS Medical Center in the same town, it was a long time ago.
I hope this helps you to understand and you can use this information the next time you are hit with the statement.

So you want to know why men generalize about women, but then you go and generalize back by asking 'Men, why do you think this' as if ALL men behave that way. See how easy it is to generalize, even when you're wrong?

The answer is that SOME men automatically assume that a bad, irrational mood on the part of women means they're menstruating. Also, the answer is that SOME women who behave in a moody, snappy fashion ARE menstruating.

So there you have it.

because a lot of the time, the women themselves use it as an excuse for ill behaviours...

So what... is it a female-only excuse, and any man who says it must be wrong? ;o)

Come on lady, you know we men are not very bright, we just think you may 'be you know what' because when you are 'you know what' you get a wee bit snappy, so when you are that wee bit snappy, we think you are 'you know what' nothing personal, just a polite inquiry, hope this clears up the question, by the way , is it that time of------sorry nearly did it again.

No, I never think that. Men can be just as whiny as women , for no reason. I do not notice my wife or daughter changing all that much, if at all, during that time of the month.

ive never said that, but i've heard others say it, i think its just because they don't know what else to say, and they don't really think a lot about it, but it just becomes kind of a habit.

Because most women do become moody at that time of months, whether they'll admit it or not.

Just because you (1 person) doesn't become moody doesn't mean anything. If 5% of women don't become moody, it's irrelevant. The vast majority does.

Some women will say ''I don't become moody'' but they really do; they just don't want to admit it.

Any woman who claims she's "not like that" at "that time of the month" is quite obviously in denial.
