I have an upright Currier piano, and I have no idea of its age but it's in need of tuning. It's in pretty good shape but the high notes are horribly out of tune. Does anyone know the average cost of tuning any piano at all?

The price of tuning varies depending on where you live.

Where I live, standard tuning is $90.00, give or take.

In LA, I have heard that $150.00 is the going rate.

Also, a piano that is badly out of tune (hasn't been tuned for at least 5 years) will cost more to tune because it needs what's known as a "pitch raise". This entails multiple passes across the keyboard, since bringing it up all at once stresses the piano and makes the tuning unstable. This of course, can mean extra time, and therefore extra $'s.

Tune your piano at least once a year, is my advice.

It really depends on the condition of the piano and the area you live. If the piano is too old and not maintained well over the years, you might need extra work done and it might get expensive. Also the going rate in all places are slightly different. Expect at least $75.00 for basic tuning

I live in the Northwest, and it cost about $75 to get my piano tuned. It depends on the tuner - how much experience they have, how much business they get, and what level of work they perform.

In Montreal it's $75-$100 (Canadian $ of course). It'll be more in big cities probably.
