I don't think so it is the most important thing.AS human nature we have some needs e.g.moral support, cooperation, sympathy ,sexual support, sometimes time pass as well. so satisfying these needs friendship is important but not the most important thing. Most important thing is You only.

Not very. Friendships have changed over the course of life. Friends in the past were good friends, but as I changed as a person and they changed/or stayed the same, the relationship became problematic rather than supportive.
People who believe that a "friend is for life" are often stressed out beyond recognition about the friends in their life.
A Buddhist might call this an issue of not seeing the impermanence in life.
I could become your best friend. However, if your life does not support me in my efforts to have the life that I need, our friendship would begin to deteriorate over time. For example, if you were to become an alcoholic, an alcoholic is not conducive to my personal or professional goals and plans in life. I would wind down our friendship and find other friend who made other choices.

It really depends on your personality. If you need to bounce
your ideas off another, or confer in order to solidify your
position on something...or just need the physical closeness
of another..it seem very important. However, if you're
a solitary person who's expression re life is conferred
through your art form, the need for friendship is usually
less as the person is always busy concentrating on their
vision. Very subjective. The outer journey or the inner
one?

9. They share the same intrests ( thats why they are your friend)
Last but not least:

Extremely important. Some people have problems with family and etc so if they don't have enough family or whatever then they have friends instead.
That's why friendship is important.

Very important. Mutual friends aren't that important but are necessary from keeping you from going crazy and close friends become like your siblings.
For example, when I don't socialize much with people I know I get pretty cranky and annoyed (Mutual friends).
And I love my best girlfriends like sisters. They give me emotional support and advice.

It's extremely important. If you have a bad day, your friend will make you feel better. You can trust them to give an honest opinion on something you may buy. It's someone to rely on.

We often can see ourselves through our friend's eyes. It gives us a clear picture of who we are. There's an old expression: "You are who you associate with"...meaning those with similar interests are like us. I think it's very important, but you don't have to have 10 friends..one good one, including your sister or other family member. It offers us a chance to bounce our beliefs and ideas off of someone who cares. It gives us someone we enjoy to do activities with and spend time with. It boosts our faith in ourselves. A good friend will encourage you to do what's right and good for you. A good friend is never, ever jealous of your looks, success, etc.

The basis of a fruitful, production and satisfying life. Loneliness creates further withdrawal, depression and the eventual withering of life.
