A bachelor is an unmarried man. It doesn't matter whether he's divorced, widowed, or has a girlfriend.
I think in the US we use bachelor to mean a man who has never been married, but that's just a customary usage. It's not the technical definition of the word.

A Bachelor (of arts or science) can become a Master (of arts or science) but a bachelor in real life can only become a slave after marriage.
