not unless there is something that causes them to shift their world view.

Dad told me, and I believe it to be true, that people become more of who they are as they get older. If you're bitter, you become more so, if you love, you increase in kindness patience, et al.
I believe it to be true, BUT, the only true change, can come from within.

Yes. I do think people change. I changed my shirt and pants 10 minutes ago.
But seriously, I do think people change IF THEY WANT TO. If they don't want to change, you can try and change them all you want, but they won't do it. Every person has free will, and will exercise it if they are motivated to do so. I cannot change you and you cannot change me. But I can change me if I want to, just as you can change you if you want to. Hope this answers your question!

Yes, but it's not easy.

Change, as you seem to be referring to it, requires a categorical rethinking of the entire person and his/her way of approaching life. A "life-altering change" implies changes in definitions fundamental to one's evaluations, of the things one does relative to priorities, result-gettings, daily responsibility; and also, third, enough time for the person to re-program emotions to match the newly defined reality and not the older, outmoded or discarded ideas, values and actions.

So the answer to your question seems to be: Important changes require important changing; simple changes can be handled more simply. But only important changes yield important-level and long-lasting results.

yep! people tend to change. probably because of their surroundings. it includes hte environment and the people / situations / lessons he/she learn along the course of life. but it really depends on the person itself. on how he/she will react or take the situation he/she's on.
