conservative tends to hold on to and resist change to modernity or liberal things
when being a conservative is "cool" it's like retro becoming the norm and anything outside the 50's to include rights, freedoms, expression is considered taboo

Maybe there are more people there smart enough to know personal comfort is more important than fashion. Not everyone in the world dresses to impress friends and/or strangers.

OK,so where to you get the statistics?
I am from the south and do not wear crocs nor do I own overalls.Can you judge that someone is gay from the clothing they wear,no.Can you be biased in thinking all southerners wear overalls?Tee -shirts?Flannel shirts?No!
There are quite a few that wear casual "Duck head" or "Dockers"
Judge not uness thy be judged.

LA and New York are the most fashion forwards places in the U.S. It takes places further away more time to catch on.
Don't think that you're superior though if you're super-fashionable. In many parts of Europe, the U.S. is far behind, fashion-wise.

I lived in Tennessee almost 10 years and have never seen anyone wearing overalls. Well except for very old men.
