I have heard that if the room temperature is warm enough, that you dont need a heat source,is that true?
I live in Florida so it's never gets very cold.I mean I'm going to get a heating pad (better be safe than sorry) but I didnt know if it's true that it's not always needed.

If your room stays around 82-85 you won't need a heat source. Even in Florida though, it gets cooler than that in the winter. I would use an under tank heater with a thermostat to turn off the heat if it gets too warm. My snake room stays around 82 and the thermostats rarely have to work until winter time.

Absolutely use a heat source. Set the caging up ahead of time and check temperatures for a couple days before you get the animal. This will make sure you can create a nice warm area for it to help digest food and thermo-regulate.

Even outdoors in the wild, Cornsnakes of Florida will have tree limbs, rocks, and, at night, black pavement to help warm up. You need to be able to reproduce this with your cage at home.

Definitely. An UTH pad is a must at one end of the tank. Measure temps with a probe thermometer--temp on the glass should be 85F, with several inches of aspen above. The snake can burrow to correct temps if needed, especially for digesting. My babies don't spend a lot of time under the warm hide, but it's there if they want it. I'm in Florida, too. i think that with the temperature of the heating pad will be enough but just to make sure, test the temperature a few days before you get it, and also try asking the people at the pet store they know a lot.

all reptiles need some form of heating..whether it be a heat mat or a lamp or ceramic heat emitter...only at one end so that it can choose if it wants to go to the hotter end or the close to room temp end...you must not have a snake if you are unaware of how to take care of it...so yes you should definitly make sure the cage size is adequate and that the heat source is correct temp...good luck
