I'm working on an Excel problem I'm having. I'm creating a receipt program so that when people buy things at my store their name comes up on the receipt thanking them. I have a database of names and every name is connected to a specific gender M or F. Basically how do I tell excel to change M into "Mr." or if it is F to "Mrs."

Thanks for the help.

Instead of having a "gender" columns, have a "title" column, then it just lifts Mr or Mrs/Miss/Mz as appropriate

Male and Female are great for tracking target buyers in the future, but very poor for tracking Mr., Mrs.

What about Ms. or Miss. What about titles(if your business is related to this)Dr. DDR. PHd etc.

You could drop the Mrs. and just put Ms. in which case it would be inclusive but not exclusive. An if() statement would work here with concatenation down the road.

Use a lookup table or the IF function.

=if(cell="M","Mr.","Mrs."). Then concantenate that with their name.
