I drop a baseball on his laptop and now when it starts up it says error there was a problem starting up windows etc. etc. If this is your first time blah blah blah...and its in blue screen. He has windows vista on it and I just wanna fix it. Suggestions?

Without you having posted the BLAH BLAH BLAH bit of the error NO ONE can help you . . . the "Blah Blah Blah" is the technical bit that explained the problem properly.

It is because some system files got corrupted. Start in safe mode and try to system restore. I would suggest Reimage. I use Reimage to fix my computer problem, because it is the only product that can fix your PC even after it is already damaged as compared to a regular registry cleaning tool that just deletes the registry redundant components and inconsistencies. It replaces all those corrupted system files with the correct files from a repository (has over 25 million components) and thereby making the PC run like new.
