I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix, and when I go to start it, it starts sluggishly, like it's having trouble turning over. But here's a weird thing-- If I turn the key to
run" or wherever you usually put it to start the car, it has trouble turning over, but if I turn it to the "off" position, and start it that way, it starts like a firecracker.

Basically, from the run position, the key can turn maybe a half inch, but from the off position, maybe a couple inches, so I'm wondering why a start from the off position is working so much better. Thanks

The tumbler pins, or your key is worn out.
Try your spare key and see if it works better.

Bad electrical switch? Also, next time you have a regular tune-up, etc, have the timing chain checked, as well as the fuel pump.
