Capitalism is a great economic system, but not a form of government. While many people invest in corporations, only a few who with large shares in the corporation have any say in how the corporation is ran. It is extremely difficult to hold corporations responsible for their actions, because usually it is the innocent, who had no connection what so ever with the crimes, that wind up paying through loss of jobs, retirement funding, and investment money, while the real perpetrators walk away free with all the money. It is hard to tell who is operating things behind the mask of the corporate identity in it's many extensions, branches, and forms. In my opinion, corporate control leads back to feudalism, and turns us all into wage slaves to a psychotic nameless faceless identity that can not be held responsible for it's actions.

All of the contributors here have made really good points are in more or less basic agreement with you!
There is a danger in allowing large corporations to control too much of the market share as well as the direct incomes of thousands of employees. Strong legislation with teeth, backed up by knowledgeable and firm policing of the laws, is very necessary.
Several corporations are becoming aware of their public image regarding environmental concerns, community projects, sweatshop labor, dangerous working environments and the like because PEOPLE are taking an interest in making them accountable for what they do.
In short, corporations have an important role to play in the economic future of our planet; through the beneficial and efficient use of our limited resources, but don't take your eye off them.....ever.... not even for a moment!

Corporations are NOT a government, and heaven forbid their ever becoming one.
Anyone or anything that has too much power becomes corrupt, even if they didn't intend to, and were honest when they first obtained their position of power.
THAT is a fact. All of my life's experience has proven that to be true.
America's Founding Fathers knew that and gave us a Constitution that was designed to prevent abuse of power by puting the basis of government in the hands of the citizen.
Then lawyers and potentially tyrannical politicians soon started to chip away at that Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
VOTE!
Never vote for anyone who wants to limit your personal power.
Your power is spelled out in the Bill of Rights.
Power is also your money and personal assets.
How tyrants (Including the ACLU Lawyers) want to take your power from you:
Raise Taxes.
Gun control.
Take away or restrict use of your property.
Restrict practice of religion.
Alter family values.
Limit freedom of speech. Especially political speech.
Dilute your vote by promoting oportunies to vote illegally.
Corporations, given too much power would move the laborers into a slave-like class and take away your ability to persue any LEGITIMATE legal actions.
Citizens themselves could abuse power if PURE Democracy were to be our form of Government. That is why we live in a Republic with Democratically elected representatives.
It is clumbsy, slow and shall always be filled with controversy, but it will also afford all citizens their best shot at opportunity and justice - if we DON'T change the Constitution.

No I do not, but we seem to be headed more and more in that
direction every day. But we do have power, we can chose to not buy something, like products from China, in many cases there
are American made alternatives but we're so programed to just steer towards Wal-Mart or wherever and we make no effort to
find an alternative. We're so blinded by consumerism that we don't even realize the damage we're doing to ourselves and I don't know if we'll wake up to that fact before it's to late, and that's precisely what the people you're talking about want.

You ask "Do you want corporations to run the world?"
I got some bad news for ya. They already do.
I don't say this lightly. But...what can we do? As you say, you can't fight a corporation. They control the media, the power companies, the automobile industry, communication, military production, etc, etc.....
We are already wage slaves. We are just fortunate to live in a country that has higher than average wages...for now.

Heck no,but the sad fact is thats what is happening and most of congress is in their pocket.Thats one reason congress will not stop illegal immigration, big corporations want the cheap labor and it helps drive American wages lower.
You are right,if its not stopped we will be wage slaves soon.
