My fish tank is looking very empty. We have a semi aggressive tank so the fish would need to be ok with that. I want something kinda big and that is colorful. What should I get?

Im not sure, we had taken in my friends old fish he didn't want that has a tattoo that says i love you on the sides, almost all of them eat goldfish. I buy a dozen goldfish weekly and they are gone within 5 days. I have no clue what they are called.

I have one that is called a bumblebee fish, and he isn't mean at all. My other fish don't pick on him. I have had him for at least a year. My oldest fish is at least 3 years old. he looks kinda like the rainbow fish from the childrens book. He is black but if the light hits him just right you can see he is very colorful. All my fish have come from petsmart.... if that helps

Well, we need more info than that... What kind of fish do you have in there right now? That is FAR more suitable to dictate what fish you can keep than "semi-aggressive". There are a lot of fish sold as "semi-aggressive" that really aren't and would be terrified in a "semi-aggressive" tank. Email me if you have any questions, and don't forget to update this question.

EDIT: Yeah, that doesn't help at all... If you can post pictures of the fish, or do research and try to figure out what you have, that would help A LOT. It sounds like you have Cichlids which would be more towards the aggressive side...

I'm guessing this is the rainbow-like one (or some color variation)? http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_German_Blue_Ram_Mikrogeophagus_ramirezi.php

Is this the bumblebee fish? http://www.scotcat.com/factsheets/microglanis_iheringi.htm
or is this the bumblebee fish? http://badmanstropicalfish.com/profiles/profile59.html

There are just way too many options... we either need pictures or VERY thorough descriptions...

EDIT 2: From the pictures you sent me, I can tell you the tattooed fish is a Blood Parrot, and the greenish spotted one is a Green Terror.

is the tattooed guy white? i am assuming an albino oscar -- and nothing is a good match. another guess would be a parrot which also has no good matches. both of them get too big for a 20 gallon too.
there are fish called "rainbow fish" but they are kind of flat like a coin. if he is rounder than that he is probably another type of cichlid like a jack dempsey which once again is not a good friend for any of them.

your bumble bee (assuming a goby or catfish) is probably fine because he is super passive -- he knows how to stay under the radar so he doesn't get eaten. goldfish are kind of nosy and don't know any better than to go right up to fish and check them out just before they become dinner.

my best advice to you is no more fish -- try decorating better with bigger plants (real or fake -- think BIG that will go to the top of the water) maybe some bigger rocks or a big chunk of driftwood. even a vase or pot or something one of your fish could make a home out of would be good. there isn't much about interior decorating for your fish -- but give it a try and remember big and simple have the most visual impact.

If the fish is an oscar, or any large fish, forget adding others. Get rid of it, and maybe 2-3 angelfish, or a pair each of firemouths and kribensis.

I wouldn't add any more guppies for the reason being. Guppies would overpopulate your tank really quickly. I would recommend that you get maybe some fish that are a little bigger than the guppies so they can eat the babies.

i think you should have a couple of blue tang fish though they are very large they are great!you shoul get a yellow tang too and maybe some clown fish and add some small fish like the green tiger fish barb or tiger fish barb.
