Ok so I'm trying to find this movie. I cant be very descriptive because I haven't seen it in at least 5 years or so. Anyways it was a sci-fi movie, it came out before the Matrix and it's where this group of friends essentially plugs into a video game and they realize it's no longer a game. I think there was a diner or kitchen scene where someone tried to assasinate them. Like I said I dont remember much. There was a guy and his love interest and I'm sure he had a couple of sidekicks. sorry I cant be more descriptive than that. any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a movie from the 80's called Wargames, with Matthew Broderick but that's not what you are looking for if it's a pretty recent release. I've got nothing else, sorry.

I think you are talkingabout "Arcade". This was a science fiction film released in 1993. A young female battles inside a deadly virtual reality video game, to save her friends trapped there. It sounds like Existenz to me, with Jude Law as the star, in the game you had a plug in your spine and the game conneted right in.

i know it i know its eXistenZ' they plug a game pad into their spin and they play. in the kitchen scene there was some creepy creatures .
