Depends the degree of jealousy. If he gets a little pinch to the heart cause another man gives you attention it's cause he loves you..........if he hurts you, controls you or threats you cause another man is talking to you then he's insecure and out of control.

Basically jealousy is a form of insecurity or trust. Some view it as a sign of love but its actually a big problem in most relationships and has broken up alot of couples who had everything going for them except the green eyed monster

I've seen jealousy cause people to do some insane things. So I'd have to say insecurity would be the reason. I think if you love someone, you trust them. Jealousy is a reaction to something. Either the other person has caused it by their actions, or you have done something (cheating yourself) to cause it. Which ever one it is, it still means a lack of trust.

It's a sign of insecurity... period. Now, I have no idea if you are the type that cultures insecurity in others or not, but I do know this, secure and confident males cut those types loose in a hurry.

i think both.
its an indication there is a serious imbalance in the relationship.
one person is more deeply committed or in love than the other person. as a consequence, one person will act in such a way that will cause the other person to be jealous.
for example, a person who is helplessly in love will likely not flirt around and disrespect the spouse, whereas, the person less in love or not in love will callously flirt and this may cause the spouse great pain and insane jealously.
silvio berlusconi, former prime minister of italy is an incessant flirt. he always find the female members of parliment to flirt and try to nail things down.
mr. berlusconi, is also owner of the largest media conglomorate in ilaly. newspapers, magazines, tv etc.
his wife, a former beauty queen, whom he married after divorcing his then wife, became so jealous after he told a female member of parliment that he would love to marry her, if he were not married.
mrs. berlusconi became so jealous she wrote a letter to a competing newspaper and demanded an apology from her husband for his overt flerting and contant chasing of the panty.
well being a bon vivant, selvio immediately wrote her a front page apology - love letter letting her know how sorry he was and how much he loves her.
what his wife wants is for him to give her all his love and attention. however, selvio, cant help himself and whenever he sees a pretty woman ( a panty) , like a puppy he does what come naturally to him, he chases the panty, much to his wifes discomfort.
so it think its both; love and insecurity.

Insecurity and mistrust. If you're jealous of your partner looking at/talking to another person, it's mainly because you think he's going to do something with them (cheat on you, leave you altogether, etc), and that is the soul of mistrust.
There's no "love" in "he's going to cheat on me".
If you trusted your partner and your partner was trustworthy, the idea of them cheating or leaving would be a non-issue.
If your partner can't be trusted, why are you with them?

it is a sign of insecurity. You should not have any reason to be jealous if you are sincerly "in love"

i think its both, i was never jealous but never loved like i do now. when i started to really fall in love with my (third) husband thats when i first experienced jealousy.

When your jealous youre obsesive which means that your partner needs permission from you for everything thats just so wrong
