It can be, especially on a front-wheel drive car---if you have fairly good mechanical skills and a good assortment of tools, should be no problem but might take a while. Get a shop manual like Chilton or Haynes from a parts store for around 25.00 and read the section on how to remove and install the engine to get a better idea of whether it's something you want to tackle. Having mechanically inclined friends to help is a great plus. You'll need some special equipment like a portable engine hoist, floor jack, jackstands, ---air compressor and impact wrench would make things go quicker. Drain all the fluids necessary and put cardboard down to catch any spills. I've done several over the years with no special training and been successful at it---you just have to go slow and label everything you take apart...take pictures too and mark where all the bolts go, brackets, engine accessories and wires/hoses connect. Try not to disconnect the a/c system if possible. Remember, Safety first.

No its a straightforward process with refitting a reversal of removal .All cables have to be disconected, exhaust ,fuel lines ,starter motor, radiator possibly, all hoses attatched to the engine, the bolts holding the gearbox to the engine undone, engine mountings undone and you need an engine hoist to lift it out

Yes, it's very hard. Everything under the hood is connected to it in one way or another and most everything else has to be removed before you can take it out. That part is the easy part, then try putting it all back in, where it goes with all the right bolts, lol.

It is not difficult if you know what you are doing. It is like anything else in this world.. you have to know what you are messing with and have the right knowledge. equiptement, and parts. I know the mechanic will charge alot since it is time consuming. If you can't change your own oil... you will not be able to change your own engine that is for certain.

IT CAN BE VERY EASY IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING THE BEST WAY TO DO IT ON A CADY IS TO DROP THE MOTOR OUT FROM THE BOTTOM. THE MOTOR AND TRANS COMES OUT AS ONE ON A CRADLE. PUT YOU DO NEED ACCESS TO A CAR LIFT THAT WILL PICK UP THE CAR 10 OR SO FEET.

THIS WILL EITHER MAKE YOU A MAN OR FORCE YOU TO COMMIT SUICIDE.

IT IS VERY DIFFICULT AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO IT YOURSELF.
