Reptiles shed as they grow. They don't add new cells to the existing skin like mammals do.The old outer skin layer comes off as a new skin that is underneath takes over. Kinda like pealing off an old jacket that is too small with a new jacket already under it. This is perfectly normal. Make sure his feet, tail and toes shed out fine. Too dry conditions can leave constricting bits on his extremities. Wiping him gently with a warm wet wash cloth helps. But, don't pull off anything that is still firmly attached. That can hurt him. Congrats on picking one the best reptiles, in my opinion!

Yes, it's a reptile (like a snake) thus it will shed. Just be sure it gets calcium, a good diet, and good lighting.
