Is there any specific meaning on that day?

Why did Bin Laden or M. Atta choose such a specific date, September the 11th?

It didn't have any particular significance. People are saying 911 for emergency, but I would be very skeptical about that. It certainly served to make the date significant forever more, though.

First of all, September 11 in other countries that use this calendar is written as 11/09. 911 isn't used as an emergency code in other countries. I don't know how well assimilated they were to know 9/11 (date) and 911 (emergency).

Second, any two skyscrapers together, viewed at the right angle, will form the number 11.

September in New York and DC is relatively mild and warm. Weather-related delays are less likely. I think it was a random day they picked.

i believe we all could of seen it comiing i working on a souce bout it now read it and let me know

UNITED WE STAND
1) New York City has 11 letters

2) Afghanistan has 11 letters.

3) Ramsin Yuseb (The terrorist who threatened to destroy the Twin Towers in 1993) has 11 letters.

4) George W Bush has 11 letters.

5) The two twin towers make an "11"

This could be a mere coincidence, but this gets more interesting:

2) The first plane crashing against the Twin Towers was flight number
11.

3) Flight 11 was carrying 92 passengers. 9 + 2 = 11

4) Flight 77 which also hit Twin Towers, was carrying 65 passengers.
6+5 = 11

5) The tragedy was on September 11, or 9/11 as it is now known. 9 + 1+ 1 = 11

6) The date is equal to the US emergency services telephone number 911.
9 + 1 + 1 = 11.

Sheer coincidence..?! Read on and make up your own mind:
1) The total number of victims inside all the hi-jacked planes was 254. >2 + 5 + 4 = 11.

2) September 11 is day number 254 of the calendar year.
Again 2 + 5 + 4 = 11.

3) The Madrid bombing took place on 3/11/2004. 3 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 4 = 11.

4) The tragedy of Madrid happened 911 days after the Twin Towers
incident.

Sheer coincidence..?! Read on and make up your own mind:
Now this is where things get totally eerie:

The most recognised symbol for the US, after the Stars & Stripes, is the Eagle. The following verse is taken from the Quran, the Islamic
holy book:

"For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced: for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah and there was peace."

That verse is number 9.11 of the Quran.

Still uncovinced about all of this..?! Try this and see how you feel afterwards, it made my hair stand on end:

Open Microsoft Word and do the following, TRY THIS FOR REAL I'M I DID IT AND IT SCARED THE LIVING CRAP OUT OF MEE!!!!!!!

1. Type in capitals Q33 NY. This is the flight number of the first
plane to hit one of the Twin Towers.

2. Highlight the Q33 NY.

3. Change the font size to 48.

4. Change the actual font to the WINGDINGS{scariest part of all} plz do this i did and it worked

Extremely scary huh?

djraz's answer "quotes" a verse from the quran (9:11)

this is completely bogus (there are plenty of online versions of the quran that you can verify this with). the word eagle doesn't even occur in the quran

no such surah (or verse) as what he quotes is in the quran

for a list of other events throughout history that occured on 9/11, see this site:
http://www.september11news.com/Sept11History.htm

there are at least a few listed that might be plausible inspiration for choosing that date

The only explanation I can think of was that the date 9-11-2001 is similar to the emergency number we dial, 911, I don't know why they chose that partucular year though, because they have been an organized group attacking the U.S. even before this happened.

It may have been though that it was just the time that they were able to organize it, or maybe that date held a specific meaning to them.

Nobody will really ever know though.

They chose 9-11 since it was easy for them to read the date. 9 means a cake followed by a stick then 1 means stick by itself and another 1 means another stick. I watch the national geographic channel! Which the reason why i know this.

911 is for emergencies and this is the emergency they were clarifying also dates like 411 for Spain it was 311 ,were iniated because a global network is out there that uses numbers for words. since beepers were popular in communication in the beginning of 2000.Who tracks a beeper Easy access for communication alot of religious theory united in technology that was untrackable.Shukran the man who spent the time to explain the theory of the terrorists because it is true. In America there is a movement of persons who believe and suppoet this info so I know you are in the realm. This is the intensity of thought put forward so why should we not fear their logic

Who knows, but it happened. But God used that day to have a lot of Awesome testimony's of His power show through. Like Flight 93 testimony for instance. If those people would not have crashed that plain their would have been a lot more people hurt. And the twin tower incident well if it was not for those brave fire men putting their lives on the line a lot of lives that were saved would not have been saved.
