In many species, the males will have a concave plastron (tummy dents in), longer nails and longer tail.

The tail base is enlarged and this swelling extends straight out, and this is the male. In a female, the tail base is curved, and smaller. Hope this helps.

The claws of the males are longer. Females tend to have very short claws. Males need long claws to hold onto the females back while making nookie!!!

How old/big is your slider?. There's a good answer below and I would guess a male from what you have said. Is his tail pointy (male) or more rounded/blunt (female)?

Put your finger into the opposite end to its head. If it moves away its male. If it pushes back its a female.

Alternatively take it to a vet or turtle expert.

Take them both for a nice dinner. Tell them both that each one of them is really hungry so if you want something get it 'cause your not gonna eat off of each others plate. The one that eats it's food and starts eating of the others plate====== that is the female. Really, she's not hungry she just wanted to taste.

I am not sure with this one...I think it's to do with its tummy shell thats concave for male and convex for female.
