Not a lot to them really, a big bag full of hot air, so it goes up. Nice and simple.
I've spent a few trips in them. They are a great way to see over a place, and they usually go up in the early morning so you get to see the area come alive.
Dangerous, sure, like most things they have their issues, but that's life and if you don't take any risks then you might as well stay home and out of the way of those who do want to experience life (just beware of the heart attack that'll get you for being sedentary).
