I suggest if you want names, go to 20,000 names and find some awesome first names of people that you can select by yourself. They are listed according to every national language out there. Then go to the second site and they list all the last names and surnames according to country. The country is listed on the left hand side of the site. Click on a country and it will bring up all their last and surnames for you to choose from.

The best way I found is to open up a phone book and pull names from it (it is also one of the most suggested ways of choosing names for characters). These are real names of real people and sound more believable than the hip new names people like to give today (not that I have any problem with it, but if your character is older, it won't sound natural.. people like to read about characters who they can relate to).

Think about what you see around you. If a friend has a pet, use the pet's name first and your friend's surname. You can come up with some beauties like that and, strangely enough, they sound authentic!
