i don't know, these days you can't even look at someone the wrong way or it is a crime. While I do believe that our children should be protected from abuse I also believe there is nothing wrong in reasonably punishing your child, ie... a slap on the rear end.
I do not know about others, but when I was younger I was scared to death to do anything wrong lest my parents should find out. My Mom had the shoe she would whip us with and my dad had the old Army belt, look out. I survived it, in fact I never had bruises or scars from my parents, but I knew they meant business.
So, to answer your question, yes, be careful how you reprimand your child, someone is always watching and in fact your child can report you to authorities, which can include a teacher.
A child, any child has rights, and should never under any circumstances be hurt or abused. But i do think a smack on the rear end is warrented at times.
thanks

It's not illegal to punish your child in the USA, just the punishment of spanking. I do believe there would be a lot less crime and disrespect on this earth if parents didn't spare the rod. Kids know a time out isn't going to hurt them so what's the consequence for acting out or breaking the law? NOTHING.

It depends on the rules in your family and you cultural herritage. Many kids in US behave crasy because they feel that they are untouchable! And some of them report their parents even if they just say that their child is wrong. This is really weird situation.

in Ga you can spank you child as long as it is not harsh and does not live marks. No spanking on obvious areas like head, abdomen, torso area, spanking on behind and open hands is okay. Juvenile court judges know that spanking is legal in GA as long as no marks or bruising is evident.

Not yet. Although with our permissive politically correct society, it wouldn't come as a great surprise to have a law passed.

You're allowed to punish your children, you're just not allowed to bash their faces into the pavement, or knock their teeth out.
