I think the worst way to end a relationship (particularly a long one) is to walk away from it without telling the other person. I've seen this happen before, and it's heartbreaking. The other person never admits or acknowledges the end of the relationship, even when discovered.

I think ending it in a mean way, so that there will always be hard feelings and awkwardness. You have to be nice, and somewhat come to some kind of agreement, that, usually takes away a lot of the awkwardness. And helps you be better friends.

I think the worst is when there is no "break-up." When we just stop telephoning and seeing each other. The relationship is just left hanging and no one does anything about it. When this happens the question about "what could have been" lingers on.
