Hmmm... yes and no.... first of all, Iraq was always on the brink of continuing its unresolved war with Iran. There was a sort of cease fire but the tension was always there.
Iraq was a prosperous nation, even with the sanctions. It had a very large middle class before the occupation. Healthcare was more than adequate and unemployment was relatively low... both are lacking post invasion.
But saying it was relatively peaceful is dependent on who you ask. To the Kurds it was not at all. The political dissidents, or anyone really that just questioned Hussein, would not call it peaceful either. But like anywhere else, when people can comfortably suport themselves and their families then there is a lot of contentment... and Iraq had a lot of contentment before the invasion.

As Iraq is now the most violent country on earth, then yes it was relatively peaceful to now, so yes.
But relative to other countries it had been through more wars and internal repression than most, so no.

Yes, it was peaceful because anyone that opened their mouth got a first class tour of Saddam city!! We needed to bring him down. We have just handled it wrong since then but, we are committed and have to see it through now. If we pull out now, in a few years we will be back with even more problems than we have . Thanks for the question and have a great day!

Relative to what?
It is a completely subjective term however compared to the current situation in Iraq, yes it was peaceful. The Shiites and Sunni's may not have likes each other, however they were not engaged in a cultural war.

No. I think they were already on the brink of civil war and that Saddam was getting in too deep with terrorists. He was also a brutal and merciless dictator, so any peace was forced.
Don't forget Saddam's probable corrupt involvement with the UN's "Oil for Food" debacle. And don't forget the terrorist's families Saddam paid off.
I think the US is trying to prevent WWIII by our attempts to establish a democracy in Iraq (and one that is free from the control of radical Islam).

They had no WMD's if that's what you mean and the "leaked" copy of the Downing Street papers clearly document GB telling Blair that (GB) would invade Iraq with or without WMD's.
Sorry Bushies, After the Nov. elections there will be no one left to block the opening of the official white house records of that conversation and your boy will be arrested as a war criminal if you like it or not, if you believe it or not.

No it certainly was not. The people lived in fear of their lives for the slightest infractions. If the left would support our efforts we could wipe the place up and leave. The enemy sees our weakness and that half the country is calling for an early retreat which emboldens them to fight on. If they felt their was no hope things would be different. If we allowed our troops to fight hardcore like they would have back in WWII, things would be a hell of a lot different.

Think: finds Law vs Law is as Loser vs Loser.
Think: finds Law Destructive, whether OT or NT.
Think: finds grace, at throne of grace, and in time.
Try think-ing from the end that's already written:
The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

You could drive from the airport to the hotel with out being killed.
No random bomb attacks killing civilians.
There was reliable water and electric service, and the trash was picked up.
