that was the official line was it not? and I remember people calling those who suggested such a thing a few years back with vile names and hurled insults at them.

"It's embarrassing that George W. keeps trying to deceive the American public about the developments in Iraq, but it's shameful that the media establishment blithely goes along, parroting Bush's deceit.
Take Bush's high-pressure push to ram his new oil law through the Iraqi Parliament. The official line is that this is a healing measure that would provide for a fair distribution of oil profits among Iraq's Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds - and its passage is the number one non-military benchmark that the White House has set to measure Iraqi 'progress'.
Major media outlets...have swallowed Bush's line whole, frequently and unquestioningly reporting that, for some reason, those quarrelsome Iraqis' can't even agree on something as basic as sharing oil revenues....
Truth is, this is not about sharing profits, but about a cynical grab by multinational oil giants. Big Oil got the Bushites to write a provision into the proposed law that would open two thirds of Iraq's oil fields to ownership by foreign corporations - unlike Saudi Arabia, Venezuela and Iran which all control their own oil drilling and extraction.
In short, the law would force Iraq to surrender sovereignty over its most valuable economic resource - and that's why it is no passing. One thing the nation's politicians all can see is just how vehement public opposition to Big Oil is.
So when you see stories about Bush, Cheney and others imploring Iraq's Parliament to pass this law - remember, they're not promoting national reconciliation, they're promoting a shameful oil scam." ***
This unconstitutional, illegal, unjustified, immoral 'war' was all about OIL and WAR PROFITEERING from the very beginning. 675,000 Iraqis and 3,800 U.S. soldiers have sacrificed their lives so that a handful of wealthy elitists, industrialists and power brokers can become wealthier and more powerful.
Congress was lied to, American citizens were hoodwinked, and our valiant U.S. soldiers were conned into believing there was honorable purpose for this 'war' against a sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the United States.
Surely Satan has reserved a special oil-soaked, blood-stained corner of Hell for Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and all of their war-mongering friends, including:
* all 535 members of the most arrogant, incompetent, evil, contemptible, cowardly, corrupt Republican-led Congress in U.S. history that stood by and allowed Bush to run rip shod over our Constitution -and-
* all 535 members of the most arrogant, incompetent, evil, contemptible, cowardly, corrupt Democratic-led Congress that promised to end this 'war' if elected, and - to date - have done nothing to keep that promise.

The article points out that the chair of Hunt Oil, Ray Hunt, is on the board of Halliburton. He is also on the board of trustees for Bush’s presidential library.

The Iraqi oil minister has declared that the Kurdish deal with Hunt Oil is illegal. This should be interesting.

I think it would be exceedingly naïve to think that the invasion of a sovereign country that has the second largest oil reserves in the world was not about the oil.

Everyone knew from day 1 it was only about that, the oil belongs to Iraq and either it pays for the occupation and rest goes back to the people of Iraq. Instead now, when hunt oil company finishes their research will start extracting oil and give a small % of it to the few corrupt Kurds in power, keep the rest and none will be left for the American tax payers or common Kurds.

This war was about Bush Oil interests from the start. Most of us know this, and many knew this a long time ago. Welcome to reality. Prepare to get bashed by the bushy sheeple.

I thought Haliburton was the Bush oil favorite? Now it's Hunt Oil? I wish folks would make up their mind on what oil company the administration favors as this is getting quite old. It was not about oil...........

That is the typical response from republicans whenever anyone hits on the truth, didn't you know that?

Look for that confirming sign every time to talk to a republican from now on.
