Apparently ALL spiders have eight legs.The only exceptions are those with congenital defects and without a doubt those that have been crippled. Speaking of the eyes however, most spiders have eight eyes but some have fewer than eight.

They have 8 legs and 2 mouth pieces that look like legs. some indeed use two of their legs as antenna but they are in fact legs. if a spider has more (which is unlikely) then you can call it a genetically misshapen spider. Same goes for spiders BORN with less than 8. they are usually crippled and wont live ling if born with more or less legs. As stated before their legs could also have either fallen off or torn off.

I hope this finally answers the question everyone has, even though this thread started 9 years ago.

Things evolve out of need - these things needed to hold onto & wrestle pray (weave webs) and all the while, be ready to move or runaway from something else as they eating. Because they descended from larger life forms -- before the dinos (which mostly had 4 legs). 'Spiders' and spider-like things were 2-3 ft long, maybe 600 million years back - and they had 8 legs. Remember, some insects evolved with many, many more than just 8 legs.

All spiders are arachnids and all arachnids have eight legs, unless they fall off. Sometimes they might look like they have more, but that's only because some spiders, like tarantulas, have very large pedipalps (leg-like mouth parts).
