There are some sites with info, but no one will cal you from the work that you get, that's not how it works. First you make sure you have the training. Acting classes are the big thing, but dance classes and voice lessons are good too particularly for theatre and if you have any hope of being a Disney kid. You build a resume through local theatre productions, student & indie films, etc. then you try getting an agent.
http://casting.backstage.com/jobseekerx/SearchJobsForm.asp
http://www.actorsaccess.com/ - set up a free account, look at the breakdowns for your area. It will cost you to submit electronically for auditions, but not if you mail them yourself.
Once you build up a good resume and you are still (continuously) in acting classes you trry to get an agent. Go here: http://www.sag.org/sagWebApp/ Use the dropdown menu on the right labeled 'resources' and choose 'agent information'. On the next screen, on the left choose 'Find a SAG franchised agent' and follow the directions. You can look up agents all over the US, but there are higher concentrations where the work is (Los Angeles, NY, IL, FL, GA etc.). Another great resource is Ross Reports especially because they update their info so often but not all of the agents they list are SAG and you have to pay for the list. That doesn’t mean they’re not legit, but that’s why I always tell people to start with the SAG list. It’s free and those agents have signed an agreement to put the actor first! www.rossreports.com If you subscribe to backstage.com you can get a combo subscription which can come in handy but can also get quite expensive.
Then you can send the agencies your headshot, resume, and a cover letter stating that you are seeking representation and wait to see if they call you in for an interview. You never call the agencies directly. That is a big no-no! At least it is in LA. Please remember that reputable agents take 10% of your pay AFTER they help you get a SAG contract job. Not one cent more and not one cent before. Anything else is a scam. This is strictly for talent agents, not modeling agents or talent managers who take different percentages.
good luck

Hey there! First of all, it depends on what the people want from you. I went to an audition a few weeks ago and all they wanted to know was what type of accent i had so we sat down and just acted/read out a script. The most common auditions is to simply act out the character you are aiming to get a part as. Some Auditions may include workshops where they try to identify what acting skills you have e.g. confidence, varying emotions and how you react to an environment. Some require you to prepare a speech. Other Auditions may want you to just show your physique in order to get the right type of look for a character. Others may be looking for a singing part therefore, looking for good singers, dancing is similar too. I'm not sure about any public auditions websites but you can get a local paper showing varying auditions in many areas. If you want to get into this business my best bet is to join a drama school [locally if possible] that offers you to join an agency, therefore you get lessons to improve your skills and get parts or chances to go on a t.v. show. Movies are tougher to get into but still possible. Kind Regards

Two things.
First, before you think about going to LA, make sure you know what you're getting yourself into. And above all get some training first. I don't know of any websites where you can audition, but I do know of over 100 websites that you can submit yourself to be considered for an audition. A couple of them you might check out are: lacasting.com and exploretalent.com.
One of the best things in addition to submitting yourself is to get an agent. But in order to have the best chance of getting an agent, you need some training and some experience. http://www.actingcareerstartup.com
The second thing: given the nature of your question and the way you asked it, I imagine that you could benefit from my free ebook called How To Start An Acting Career. You can go to the link I mentioned above or even the one below my name, sign in on the upper right and you can download it for free. It's 36 pages and will give you a sort of guide for getting started as well as some resources you might find useful.
Good luck!
