1955 blue Volkswagen...complete with flipper-arm turn signals, sunroof & teeny back window. The examiner said it was a real first for him. Everyone else testing that day was driving big squishy Yank cars with automatic shift...talk about compare and contrast!

A 1935 Austin 7 Alta Arrow I believe was made outside of the Austin motor Co on their chassis. It was around 15 years old at the time ,dark green colour.

!955 Ford Anglia (almost new) three speed gear box, none synchromesh 1st gear. Can't remember colour. But took test in centre of Nottingham 4 weeks after 17th birthday in 1955.
