It depends on local laws, and how they define "weapon".

But I've always wondered.... How many nuns could a nunchuck chuck, if a nunchuck could chuck nuns?

The laws regarding weapons of this sort (as well as knives, etc.) differ from state to state.

Obviously they aren't illegal where I live as my son made two pairs in his shop class at school.

It cannot be concealed unless you have a concealed weapons permit
