You are missing a bracket on the LHS of the equation. I am going to have to assume you mean
4-5(x+2) = 3(x+1) -1
Multiply out the brackets
=> 4 - 5x - 10 = 3x + 3 -1
=> -6 -5x = 3x + 2
Put all x terms on one side and all the non-x terms on the other
=> -8 = 8x
Divide both sides by 8
=> x= -1
Check:
4-5(x+2) = 4-5(1) = 4+5 = -1
3(x+1) -1 = 3(0) -1 = -1
So correct
