Check with your local mazda dealer to see if you can still buy accessories for your Protege 5. You can find the number and location by going to www.mazdausa.com

Once again, the Stig is correct. Your tire size is 195/50-16, with a V speed rating and a load index of 83. And as suggested the Continental ExtremeContact DWS is probably your best option, especially if you have to deal with a little ice or snow. It is an outstanding all weather performance tire. Also the newish General G-MAX AS-03 should be considered. Highly rated budget priced tire. Good fit for your zoom zoom. The Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S would also be a top choice. Excellent quality tire, though a bit more expensive than the Continental or General. However, Michelin is currently running a $70 rebate special good through the 29th of January.

The ones on e-bay try to apeel to and fit the largest amount of vehicles as possible. Thus they will have the set screw in the side to tighten them down.

If you are a tactile person and want to see how they feel in your hand, you can't buy one by sight alone on the internet. Your gonna have to go into the store and touch em. Leather, wood, metal, plastic are all a little different.

Maybe go to a Mazda owners/enthusiast website to get an idea what they have on the stick. I'm sure they would be happy to tell you about their rides.

Parts stores sell a variety of them but make sure it's the same thread pitch as yours. Or look for stores online that carry Mazda performance parts.
