I am thinking of buying a 4.0 or 4.6 Range Rover but I know they have had overheating problems on many of them. Does anybody know if the problem has been sorted and, if so, from what year. I believe the one to have is the P38. would like a response from an AA or RAC tecnician.

God awful pieces of junk!! I love them and owned them for years!! Buy one as new as you can afford, make sure there is a good specialist near you as these cars go wrong often and are expensive to repair. Overheating is the least of your problems, the air suspension is the usual problem area. An old addage about all Land Rovers is they are like puppies, they will leave puddles everywhere, no puddles no fluid!! The 2.5 dse is your best bet as both petrol motors are verrrrry expensive to run. But when they are running well there is nothing on the road like them. Don't bother with a manual as they are difficult to sell on, have fun.
