A fasces (a bundle of sticks with an axe in the middle - the symbol of ancient Roman consuls and later the Fascists) would be a really good symbol for uncompromising and inflexible - authority and ideology, both ..
And grasses would be a good but unconventional symbol for dignified compromise and flexibility .. here's how ... when a gale occurs a grass bends and saves itself from death, but a proub tree keeps standing and breaks ... so grasses know when to compromise and when to stand tall ....
