i have a small reptile cave on the cooler side a half paper towel roll in the middle and a ceramic log that extends up to the top close to the light (i have a screen top) and it is hollow inside will that be enought hides for that size tank

Yes, that is a big enough tank for the cornsnake. You are very smart to have gotten a 20gallon because your snake has room to grow in the only problems you might have is when you feed it, it will take the snake alittle bit longer to find his food, if you feed him in his tank.

Yes, just have lots of hiding places and fake plants. It is also a good size for an adult, so you won't have to change tanks. Make sure you have clips/locks on the screen top...they can push it right open and are escape artists! Your top is not escape proof. You should buy an actual snake cage. There are plenty of sources on kingsnake.com.
