Don't you just hate it when that happens.
Really, we are not on here for points. If you get them, you get them, if you don't you don't. No sweat. The Seniors are here to impart wisdom, share stories, bring back old memories and share same. Help others and give advise.
If you are here for points, maybe you need to go to another area. Do not beg it is so unbecoming. Most of us read all the answers, or I have got the information from being on here for a while, that we do. If something strikes someones fancy, they may give a thumbs up, maybe not. Trolls always get a thumbs down. CHILL!!!

It depends on many factors.
I find that a medium length answer is required: One or two lines usually doesn't have enough data to be complete enough to get the thumb's up or best answer notation. Long schpeels often go unread, no matter how good the encapsulated data.
You have to be careful what type of question you answer too: for example, if you answer a question with a conservative bent with a progressive answer, likely your answer will get ignored or invite scorn.
Hang in there. Sooner or later, you'll get the thumb's up.

Sometimes I yammer just to hear my head roar, so my long answers probably go unread. Short answers at least get attention.
Some folks don't rate in either direction. If I think it's a snotty answer, the thumb goes down. If I like the person's thought, even if I don't agree, the thumb goes up.
I star most of the questions I answer. If it didn't interest me, I wouldn't answer.
I enjoy reading your entries, because you're the only one I'm aware of who hails from "down under." Most of the others seem to hail from the U.S., Canada or the U.K.

Yoa ding bat, there is no place on a question for a thumbs up only on the answers. You only get stars on questions, and I've given you several of those. I've personally given you quite a few thumbs up as well.
Just kidding on the ding bat thing:~) I do enjoy the majority of your questions:~)
To racer51, that's not fair, that's like saying seniors don't tip. I tip and I tip well
