lcd monitors:

comparison of dead or stuck pixel? what do you call on the dark spot of the screen? it shows the true quality of color but slightly dark

There are three pixel defects in LCD panels:

Bright - a bright red/green/blue spot on a black screen.
Dark - a yellow/cyan/magenta spot on a white screen
Occluded - a dim but white spot on the screen.

Since bright pixel defects are more noticeable than dark ones the specifications tend to allow less bright pixel failures than dark. So while it may be equally likely to get a bright or dark defect in manufacturing more bright defects will get rejected and so, as a percentage, more dark defects get to the customer.

Dead pixels I beleive are black whereas colored are stuck - that also dpends on where it got stuck though - some stuck pixels may appear dead.

Heres an Applet that might help: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/UDPixel.html

Yes dead pixels will usually appear black. Here is a link to a freeware program that may help unstick them by flashing them on and off.
