I would buy 5 acres of land, build a big house, buy new furniture, and cars, travel, invest some in good stocks, and give some to relatives and my favorite charities.

Geez, a million doesn't go as far as it used to. I would pay off my mortgage and all of my debts, take a couple of trips and give some of it to other family members and charity. Whatever was left, I would invest.

I'd buy stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and real estate. Sorry for the boring answer, but that's just the wisest way to spend it.
