Absolutely - If you or I had our home damaged by fire or floods we would not be able to claim that the state should repair or replace our possessions.

After the monetary losses of Hurricane Katrina, the Indian Ocean tsunami on December 26, 2005, and the collapse of the World Trade Center on 9-11-01, the legislatures, or parliaments, of the United States, New Zealand, Japan, France, and the Netherlands have all started catastrophic insurance programs to recover any losses sustained in the event of any catastrophe. In a world increasingly threatened by terrorists and climate change, isn't it prudent to start a catastrophic insurance program in the United Kingdom that would include Her Majesty's castles and palaces?

Windsor Castle doesn't belong to the Queen it belongs to the nation.
It was not met wholly by the taxpayer, the state rooms of Buckingham Palace were opened to the paying public for the first time to help pay for the repairs. Many of those tourists were not British and those that were DECIDED to pay extra.

Whichever way you slice it, the UK taxpayer will always be the ones paying for, and who have paid for, everything the monarchy (and their distant cousins etc) ever owned, so insurance or not we still pay. If it or anything else burns down, the Insurers would put up premiums to recover the loss and that would be spread out through Lloyds to the whole nation anyway.
They have had us by the balls for so long we have forgotten we ever had any.

They should pay for they're own maintenance for they're properties! they already have very privileged lives & are in a better position then most of us financially! why should we struggle & work hard to maintain the lifestyle they've become accustomed to. They aint any better then the rest of us they're pointless scrongers that don't work hard enough for anything.
