I do not know what your interests are , but , sure, do not stay in the closed space torturing yourself. There is always such a lot of things to do . Also, I would advise , that spending hours on the computer surfing is not a good idea of fighting your loneliness , either.

Volunteer at some non-profit org. and assist people who have bigger problems than your own. That usually put things in perspective plus makes you feel 100% better by giving back to society.

Re-connect with old friends and have girls- night out.

Join a book club, or dance class. i.e. keep busy.

Clear the house of painful memories.

And know time is your best friend, one day you will just forget all this nonsense.

My area has all kinds of ways to connect with other people. Our library has exercise classes, films, and reading clubs. The local high school gives classes for a minimal sum (senior citizens are free) from cooking to swimming to language learning. Check out what is offered in your community and JOIN SOMETHING. It's amazing how many friends you make once you participate in group activities. Also, you might try community service. All communities need volunteer help.

I either chat on the internet, play my Xbox 360, write poetry or words to music in my head or I tell myself stories that make me feel better about myself. That is how I combat both loneliness and bordem.

Some of us require more social interaction than others. If you desire to be with other people, you may learn a new hobby, join a club or take a continuing education class. By staying active, you may find new ways of meeting new friends, which may alleviate your lonliness.
