I recently got a new HP Compaq laptop (6715s) and i turned it on straight away. Everything worked perfectly and i plugged in the AC adaptor. A pop-up came unto the screen saying 'AC output too low for this computer' and it refused to charge. It would charge for about 2 seconds then the message would appear. The next morning i tried to turn it on and the amber light flashed meaning extremly low battery. So i plugged in the charger but nothing happened? I have NO clue what to do- please someone help!!!

Ive found the roblem now. I went to PC world just now with my mum and they said that the ac adapter plug has been bent (the thin gold strip in the middle had completely malfunctioned) and is now stuck in my laptop. It was a gift from a friend and im getting a replacement hopefully on Monday.
Still sucks though :(
Thanks for all your answers.

Easy fix, CALL HP SUPPORT.
If it's a NEW LAPTOP it has warranty. Call them get a new charger unit.

Sounds like the mains adapter unit is either the wrong one or faulty

The charger isn't working properly. Have your tried removing the battery from the laptop. Check to see if the laptop will run with just the charger, it won't hurt the laptop to run without the battery installed, just to check to see if there isn't a problem with the power coming out of the wall outlet. If not, have the factory replace the AC adapter.

bull crap. the charger has not been left on long enough to charge ur battery. dont be unplugging everything, and leave everything hooked up over night. when the battery is low it takes at least overnight to get enough charge to operate the system, if not 24 hours.

you got the wrong charger it seems
exchange it
good thing the voltage was too low, and not the other way around
that means the laptop should be fine
