I work for myself and I would rather do that because I don't like being treated like an employee lol I don't mind when bosses treat me as a partner and give me a say (which they shouldnt have to). My husband says he would rather get rich from someone else company as then he doesn't have to take risks with his own money and if the company fails it doesn't really affect us. Which would you prefer?

I love being my own boss. I've had a lot of experience working in the corporate world (nearly 20 years) and it's not for me. It did give me a lot of experience though and my company paid for my M.B.A.

I had many nincompoop bosses whose judgment was pretty bad. I used to wonder, how in the hell did they get into their position? After so many years, I realized that they are politicians, corporate, empty suits whose best talent is playing the political corporate game. Unfortunately for me, their terrible business decisions had adverse affects on me. I'd suffer promotions and lack of sufficient pay raises because the department's performance was sub par. When a boss would fail, the corporation would laterally transfer him and bring in another empty suit. These jackasses got hefty salaries and benefits. The corporate, empty suits protect each other. I always felt and knew that I could do a better job than them.

After 17-18 years of this happy horses**t, I went out on my own and have never been happier, making far more money, enjoying my work and life and am far healthier with much more leisure time. Work is not drudgery working for yourself and having the power to make your own decisions. I trust my decisions and they usually work out quite well.

being your own boss has its advantages like you don't have to report for work 8-5 or 9-6 schedule. you can decide how many hours you want to work and what to do with the free time. there are challenges being your own boss because you steer the direction and pace of what you are doing. like i am engaged in a global business in caring and sharing and i enjoy what it gives me.
working for someone is also fine. but there is a limit and you are subject to retirement rule. you gain knowledge from the company and with this knowledge, you can apply to your own business.
