I knew that today was Battle of Britain day, and wore my Air Force sweetheart wings with pride. I met a couple of people in my local ASDA raising funds for SAAFA Forces when I was shopping with my 9 year old nieces. They were very impressed that the girls too knew the significance of the date and even knew this was the 67th Anniversary.

It's Marriage Fidelity Day in Alaska.
It's also Chicken Month in the US of A as well as Apple Month, Library Card Sign-up Month and in Pennsylvania it is currently Mushroom Month (!!).
The Battle of Britain officially ended on Sep 15 1940 with an RAF victory, but otherwise I can't think of anything significant about today's date.
It's not the 150th day since Madeline McCann's disappearence or some other obscure anniversary is it? That would really wind me up! Do tell.
