personally i thought it was very funny. if Muslim's want to settle in Europe, they have to learn that if you are stupid! people will laugh at you. if you walk around beating your chest and behaving in a threatening manor society will quite rightly shun you and you will become a figure of fun. modern day society does not tolerate thugs and bullies, and people do not tolerate threats. especially! when those aggressors are living in their!! country and invited 'with a good heart' to share what they have worked hard to build. if Muslims don't like being laughed at. they must come out of their caves and learn to live in the modern world. and be aware!!that they are not special...we all take the piss out of each other too. its called a sense of fun. Muslims take them selves far too seriously. and sadly! they and their religion 'i would say' really don't have a place in the modern world with out a serious re-think. Christianity had to re-think to survive in the modern world. so must Islam

The cartons were in bad taste, but not blasphemous. According to the Koran, Muslims are forbidden to make a likeness of Mohamed. I would guess that rule was made to prevent anyone from creating an idol of Mohamed. Also to prevent people from worshiping Mohamed rather than Allah. The Danes who created the cartoons were not Muslim, therefore no blasphemy was committed.

I believe in the fredom of speech and of the press but with a tempered soul. Would you think it was funny to see a cartoon about a national tragedy? the collapsed Brige in MN ot the WTC? How about a little cartoon of that Missing Brit Girl. While I defend the right to print freedom there is personal responsibilty to common sense as well. Islam may have over reacted but it had the desired effect.....
Edit-- I will agree with you about the double standards, they cry for religious tolerence in the UK but then arrest Christians in Saudi Arabia.

The only one that was vaguely funny was the one of Muhammed telling suicide bombers that Paradise was full. The rest varied from dull to insulting.
Images of Muhammed are widely, although not universally, condemned in Islam so they were not strictly speaking blasphemous, but they were guarantee to receive a lot of criticism.

i think its pathetic im a christian and i will gladly sing along to the weird al song what if god smoked cannabis ( taken from what if god was one of us). I mean if they really had to complain that bad then do it but dont hold up a sign sayin behead the non believers, kill the christians etc this is just another example of ppl using religion as an excuse for conflict. the only way to get over something bad thats happened in the past is to laugh, i mean the vikings were cnsidered terrible but at the end of the day we can still laugh about vikings envading, as we have, and there is no complaint.

I dont really know..I mean I would take great exception if some one depicted the Virgin Mary like say a Prostitute in a Cartoon in a Magazine or newspaper.. So I suppose I have some sympathy for those who are offended..What I will not condone however is those who are offended and then have Murder in their thoughts and wish to murder those who are the offenders..Nobody has the right to take anothers life no matter what the insults are.. Im a Catholic and I dont care if I get 50 thumbs down ..These are my beliefs and that will never change..

I have,nt seen them, and don,t particularly want to.They were an ill advised output at the best.It is well known, that the islamic extremists, are constantly on the lookout, trying to provoke the rest of the the Islamic community into a holy war.Luckily the Islamic community are not that easily led,or fooled, they are extremely intelligent thinking people, the majority of whom, prefer peace and family life.Religion guides the spirit, not everyday life.

i found them neither funny or offensive. as a catholic i couldnt care if someone did a cartoon of the virgin mary in a compromising position and if i did care i wouldnt be calling for the heads of anyone. the muslims have the right to vent anger but they can do it from their own countries, not in the host country they reside in. that goes for 2nd generations too.

While I sympathise that people were offended, there must never be any form of censorship whether it concerns religion or anything else. This could set a precedent and become the thin end of the wedge.

-perfectly within their rights as Danes to express whatever they wanted to in Denmark,in Europe.
-foolish, perhaps. but the muslims who died protesting cartoons that were only seen in a little country in northern europe were arguably even more foolish.
-but we have our own crazies too, people gung-ho to die in Iraq for yet another reason still to be disclosed(I've lost track of all the others)
