Flitter flutter little bat,
How I wonder where you're at,
Up above the world so high,
Like a tea tray in the sky....

No, The answer is not in the question. The question says "like a diamond". It doesn't say it is a diamond.
It asks "I wonder what you are"?
the answer would surely be sometjhing to do with planets, asteroids, moons etc.

Yes but is a star glow worms in the sky, or our ancestors looking down on us or a giant ball of gas?

A star is a massive ball of burning hydrogen ... although the description 'burning' is a bit misleading.

Stars are huge balls of gas. Hydrogen fuses to form helium giving off radiation.
And they are nice to look at.
