Evil and godliness are not man-made. Both evil and godliness exist from time... Cosmos came into being! In absence of evil or godliness the cosmic system simply cannot exist. Both are complimentary to each other! Evil and godliness are two sides of the same coin. Like day and night, fire and water, sufferings and happiness, God and Satan... evil and godliness also coexist!
In absence of one... the other simply does not carry any meaning! If there were only sufferings in this world... how would we know the meaning of sufferings in absence of happiness! Mankind would have taken sufferings as part of life! Using both happiness and evil... people proceed in the journey of life!
When the iron is hot and beaten... it is part of sufferings! The moment shaped rod is immersed in water... it is the period of happiness! At any given point of time the sum total of the whole Cosmos must always remain zero. That is how the system in the Cosmos is maintained all the time.
Evil is representative of Satan... the negative forces of nature! Goodness is representative of the godly attributes... the positive power of the Cosmos! Mind of the whole Cosmos is one. Human beings only have a brain that acts as a receiving and transmitting station... all thoughts in the Cosmos being relayed by mind.
Mind of the whole Cosmos has two compartments... the positive mind and the negative mind! From the reservoir of mind plus flow all positive thoughts throughout the Cosmos! From the reservoir of mind minus emerge all negative thoughts. Every human being has been endowed with the power of discrimination that distinguishes us from animals.
Remaining evil or godly is purely dependent upon every individual. As is the residual balance of karma... so is our future and destiny! By indulging in evil... we further accumulate negative karma. Those with a sunny disposition and godly thinking earn virtues in life! All positive forces of the Cosmos emerge from God Almighty... negative from Satan!
If God Almighty sits at plus hundred... Satan also sits at minus hundred! Both possess equal and opposite powers. Every thought that one invokes is either positive or negative. Those indulging in wanton desires invoke negative thoughts... One with a sunny disposition and godly thinking positive!
Invoking positive or negative thoughts from the reservoir of mind plus or mind minus is dependent upon our attitude in life... our emotions and passions! Those who allow themselves to be dictated by our ego... fall into the rut of invoking negative thoughts all the time! As flow the negative thoughts... evil follows! You really need to come up with a good definition of 'evil' before you can tackle a question such as this one. One of the better 'working definitions' I've ever heard of 'evil' is that it is anything which disfigures the human spirit. And there are a lot of man-made things which certainly fit into that catagory. As to where such things come from and why....... That's a question that I wouldn't even consider trying to take on in a forum such as this one. You could probably write dozens (hundreds) of books on the subject and reference everything from primitive spirituality to the Greeks ideal of a 'good life', to modern theology, to beyond, and everything in-between. And you probably still wouldn't haveany really good answer.

People don't always enjoy a story without a villain. Darkness is necessary to show contrast, and contrast is the skill of a great story teller. The dark is natural and is there for a reason.
