Is it not mockery of cricket. After such an interesting tussle.
Could they not have a 5-5 overs stint instead.
After all such ties will not happen so often.

If such a tie occurs in a Final we can as well allow the teams to share the trophy.

shoot out kicks/hits are given only after extra time.So why not a 5-5 overs stint before a bowl out.

Bowl out is not a fair way to resolve a tie match. Exta 5-5 overs play also can not be acceptable as 20-20 is a shjort timed match. Rather each team can be given an opportunity to bat extra one over or three balls. Each team will select a batsman and a bowler who will play that extrra over. This time there would be no fielder, the bowler will not be allowed bowl wide or no ball (wide and no ball will be penalised usually)and batsman will not be out any way but he has to score by bounderies or over bounderies only.

It is very unfair to decide the result of an exciting match by resorting to a pure lottery such as the so called "Bowl Out". Instead, one or two extra overs to each team should be given to bat and to decide the highest scoring one.

I think it is about time we stop thinking twenty20 as "a 20 over ODI" or "one dayer with 20 ovs"
NO WAY
This is a new format
Honestly i DIDN'T THINK it as a joke, ya the bowl-out, with this match this tells us twenty20 has an added dimension that the player will be needed to posses, "the bowl out specialists"
I DOUBT THEY TOOK A CHANCE WITH UTTHAPA
Sorry i may sound as a maniac fan but to me it looked india had this feature practised before
For eg. Sri Lanka, although murali isn't playing, honestly if he is, in a bowl out i won't take a chance with
I'd rather give it to Dilshan, Sanath and their likes
I had my reservations about bowl-out before last night (ya its maybe becuase ind won) the bowl out to me turned to be a really INNOVATIVE equivalent to shootouts in football etc (Do their fans believe penalties are fair?)
To me Twenty20 has evverything in it to make it global
-obviously "anyone can win" factor
-Rapid pace, not just reduction of over but doing away with drink breaks, 90 sec limit in time out (down from 180 sec in tests)
In my opinion in addition to NOT reducing the boundary distance, by not having the outfield blazing fast (not shaving the grass as some places they love to) make it a fair deal for batsmen and bowlers
LETS STOP THINKING- if after tie 5-5 overs are given it'd be 20+20+5+5=50 ovs.. bla bla
Its SPORT not a maths problem like
=> Overs in 20-20 < ODI overs
ITS A NEW FORMAT
C'mon now sitting 3 hours and the match ending in a tie
Thats not done
Sports is about winning
and i won't stop till their is a winner, and enough carnage by batsman is enough for 20+20 overs, i think its only FAIR that bowlers should come to the party now
When the toss for bowl-out was being conducted, just try remembering that period how everyone was in a mood of fun n frolic, the moment ind were 2-0 up, it became a nail biting serious affair, pak captain's face in the ceremony explains all i wanna say, i think in some time just like the penalties it's become a part, a serious part, in Twenty20 world cricket
I believe firmly had Paki bowlers continued with normal run-up ind 'd ve been rattled
Consider this-
Utthapa has no pressure, ind were already 2-0 UP
WAT IF- Pak's first attempt, Asif shatters all 3 stumps, uprooted far away (and then a wild celebration mocking the ind), ind were just clipping the bails (DON'T LAUGH BUT TRY ACTUALLY IMAGINING, stumps shattering all over 'd ve made that indians nervous like anything- Its all bout IMPACT)
Wat impact it'd ve made on the ind psyche
For me a BIG THUMBS UP to Twenty20 n the bowl-out

I was laughing when i heard on the tv that the match is not over & the result will be decided by a 'SOCCER STYLE bowl out'.
This is one of the reasons why i am against this format of the game. It's a joke. This thing is just not cricket. It's a 'CIRCUS' where people come to see classless players like Afridi doing whack.. whack.......... & whack..............
This game is all messed up. We can't say anything against it now because the rules were made earlier. I have said it earlier & i would again like to say -
THIS IS JUST NOT CRICKET
But i really think that India deserved to win. I know in a 50-50 match, the chasing team is under a lot of pressure & if it comes near the total we say that it deserved to win. But in 20-20 it's opposite. The team which has a small total to defend is under all type of pressure.
IT WAS A TEST OF CHARACTER
And i think India passed that test. Pakistan chocked under pressure situation & one would have to say that they performed poorly in the bowl out.
RULES ARE RULES. There has to be a winner & there has to be a loser. In 20-20 CIRCUS, people come to see a winner.
India won the match morally. You could see by the way they celebrated when they managed to tie the game that was out of their hands.
HATS OFF TO TEAM INIDA'S YOUNG BOYS

I too felt that the bowl out is a tamasha. In a tied match, bioth the teams should be given equal credit and should be considered as winners and such deciding the winner by bowl out is not at all fair.

Why should the whole match be batsmen's? Definitely it is a batsman's game and a bowler only bowls to be trashed all over the park. This is an opportunity atleast ...even though with very remote chances of a tie the match is dependant on bowling.

The main aim of 20 twenty is fast cricket. If 5 more overs are given then what is the difference in 50 overs and 20. 20twenty will always start a in the evening and will take 3-4 hrs. One can go or watch it without waisting his time. Good for INDIA where the govt employes bunk their office for cricket.

The present format of bowl out in case of a tie could be modified as suggested:
Instead of a bowl out it should be made a Hit out.
Each team has to nominate 5 persons for bowling and 5 persons for batting in the serial order.(Same players could be in both the lists)
One bowler of one team bowls to one batsman of the opposing team.
The batsman has to hit the ball to score runs.
Runs can be scored only in 4s or sixes
The bowler can field the ball to stop the runs.
Only runs scored in front of the wicket shall count
A wide ball shall not be counted and shall be treated as null and void.
If a 4 is scored of a noball, the batsman has the choice to keep it or nullify it for another ball.
At the end of 5 balls batted by each team, whichever team scores most runs wins
If tied at the end of 5 balls each, then another 5 balls to be bowled, and after that sudden death, as per the present format.
I think this format would make it more interesting than the present format of bowl out.

yes! it's a fair end because twenty20 is always batsman game but whenever the bowl out time is come so it's time for bowler to show their accuracy and the better bowler with good accuracy and team win game. also it will help cricket to be most popular
