I don't think it's fair to assume they're all only in it for the points.
I'm certainly no points leader, but I seriously prefer answering questions to asking them... and that has absolutely nothing to do with the points. It's kinda just the way my brain works. Gimme a starting point and I'll take it and run with it, but without that initial impetus, I'm likely to sit staring at a blank screen for quite a while waiting for inspiration to strike. And when I do ask questions, I'm quickly reminded of how tricky it is to choose a best answer! I either wind up with no worthy answers at all or with a handful of awesome answers that are impossible to choose between. Then there's the fact that timing is everything. I usually don't find time in my day to devote to this little hobby until 2 or 3 AM PST... which happens to be when most of the English-speaking world is asleep. So I spend that time visiting the profiles of my favorite askers, who are tucked safely in their beds, and try to give them something entertaining to read when they wake up. And of course I don't think I "know it all". But, truth be told, I DO know how to use a search engine. So if I want to know the name of the mayor of Dallas, or which flowering shrubs will work best in my desert climate, or what exciting things there are to do in San Francisco... I can easily get that info. I mean, I DO have the internet at my disposal, right? =)
So I'm sure the people who never ask questions have their reasons. In fact, I've noticed that some of the funniest answerers in P&S rarely ask questions, and when they do, their questions are kinda weak compared to their answers (I feel a bit mean saying that, but I happen to fall into that category myself, so I guess it's okay). So perhaps they simply know their strengths and weaknesses.
But that said, I've recently become determined to start asking more questions, however lame they might be.... just so I can give some points back to the Answers community. So if you see a question from me... and it kinda sucks... please be nice.
p.s. And a BA for me has NEVER been about the points... it's always been about the interaction with the asker; it's the feedback I crave. Once you evolve thumbs and are no longer limited to a certain number of questions and answers, then watching that little number get bigger is about as exciting as watching the grass grow.

I believe Rome was one of the most victorious in war, in conquering around the time of Christ and afterward. The leaders were emperors. THEY were worshipped. They were considered gods, so probably not atheist, since they believe themselves to be all powerful, and often were for a time. In history, many people did hide behind a religion in order to commit their slaughters, Christianity just being one of those. The problems I see are bias. As several people said in a Q I put up about bias, everyone has bias, and all we can do is know this, know what effect it has on us. An atheist will have his bias also. Thus he likely would not go to war for the same reasons someone who said they were Christian would do so. But whether that atheist leader would allow his country to be assaulted and overcome by other countries, is another topic. I even understood that before being elected Mr. Obama wanted to deploy the soldiers, bring them home. A fine wish, but only a wish. War could be what all leaders must accept at times. It depends on the country, whether other countries want to take it over or not.

I have, and I asked one of them. Imacatholic, who is category leader in Religion & Spirituality, and has been for some time. She said she just answers because that's what she's here to do, and gets a lot of best answers because when people ask specific things about Catholacism, she is often the only one to answer at all, or the only one to take the question seriously.
But don't worry about the "if everyone" question. That's what we call a counter-factual conditional: i.e., it ain't a gonna happen.

Can't help you with the others, and I know I'm not a point leader, but the reason *I* have so few questions is that my mind doesn't work well when it comes to questions. I can think of smart-aleck answers all night, but only rarely do I have an original question. I AM grateful for the fun that comes from the original minds who think of the good questions!

You make a good point , I could have more points if I didn't ask questions maybe , but become the interaction I enjoy more than points . And as long as I'm not wrongly booted off here and can come back often and enjoy myself then I win regardless of any point game . I already know my thoughts and wish to hear those of others and no better way than to ask . good question

You make a very good point....I know that if I didn't ask so many questions, I'd be at level 7 by now. But the points and the levels are not really what it's all about any more as far as I'm concerned....it's all about having fun!

Some people are self-supportive and find their own answers elsewhere rather than relentlessly asking the same tired questions here that have been answered to death.
Personally, I like to help people but I haven't felt the need or necessity of asking inane questions simply for the sake of satisfying others.

They usually don't ask questions because it takes time to ask, then read the replies, and pick the Best Answer.
Also, a lot of them do not give stars or do the Thumbs Up thing because that also takes time away from answering questions.
And lastly, they don't allow IM/eMail or have a Yahoo!360 because once again it takes away from their answering time.
They are addicted to obtaining points without any additional pleasures.

Lt. Dan, i HAD asked a LOT of Qs before the trolls went to work on me. They got (at one point) 12 of 20 of my questions deleted for no reason whatsoever, except spite. I was very much in "fear" for the account i had worked so hard to build.
That trolling began AFTER i cracked the top ten, so i went private and HAD to stop asking before i got suspended.
i feel a BIT safer under the new policies and have begun asking again. i would love SOOOO much to go public again, and i shall when i think it's safe.
just consider, friend, how many people were wrongly suspended on high level accounts and how much it pained them and just how much many of us missed those whom we considered as friends.
any top ten person who DOESN'T ask just because they're worried about 5 points is simply a gamer, and not worthy of my attention.

yes I have seen that.
I also wonder why some are leading withdrawn lives, no profiles, no emails no 360 degrees.
it is really a give and take scenario that is required to have nice community feel. Having said that: some of them have exceedingly large proportion of "best answers"
Also: how does this "skinhead Charlie" the racist keep turning up again and again saying the most offensive awful stuff?
